The HI-RES (anthology)

Many opinions exist on what goes into becoming, and being, an exemplary human.  However, most can agree that being clear on where you are going, and where you have been, play pivotal roles in the achievement of great things.  The HI-RES Anthology, curated in limited edition for the 54th NAACP Image Awards, came together to aid in the pursuit of excellence.  The stones included in the collection are:  Lemurian Quartz, Malachite and Pyrite.  Not only do these crystals look incredible together, each are rooted in historical relevance that deepens their meaning and amplifies their power.

Lemurian Quartz, just like any quartz crystal, is known to be a master healer and is associated with all 7 chakras. Lemurian Quartz’s uniqueness stems from its legendary origin and physical attributes.  Lemurian Quartz has grooves, or ladders, that run from top to bottom, and the stone itself has stunning clarity.  These ladders can be thought of as guides your spirit uses to climb upwards through a series of meditative experiences. Lemurian Quartz is also believed to induce powerful dreams, bring answers to unsolved problems, and call upon your guardian angels.

According to legend, Lemuria is an ancient lost land that was located either in the Pacific or Indian Ocean. The Lemurian people were profoundly spiritual and passionately loved the Earth.  It is believed that they worked with the high vibrational energy of crystals, and the Lemurians left messages within these crystals, messages of unity and healing, to pass on their wisdom. Those who work with Lemurian Quartz are seekers of connection.  Connecting to the past while connecting to a higher level of consciousness.

The next stone in our set is the mysterious and captivating Malachite. Its devotees can be traced back to ancient Egypt as a highly valued stone used in many Egyptian rituals.  Its vivid green coloring is reminiscent of prolific crops and vegetation, new life and fertility, and as such, Malachite was thought to be representative of the circle of life. The Egyptians believed that humans would enter a paradise upon death, often described as the “Field of Malachite.”

Cleopatra used Malachite in a beautiful and interesting way – it was ground into a fine powder and applied as her signature eye makeup.  Not only for aesthetics, but it was believed to ward off Evil Eye as well as cure various diseases and discomforts of the eye.  Malachite is a powerful cleanser for the emotional body, promoting inner strength and fortitude in the bearer.

Our last stone, Pyrite, with its beautiful silver/gold tone and geode – like appearance, has a deep history of its own.  The name “Pyrite” comes from the Greek word for fire (as in, pyre) because when struck with iron, it can create a spark.  Pyrite is quite reflective when worked to a high polish, so much so that the Incas used pyrite tablets as mirrors.  It became an integral part of mining culture in America during the 19th century (as in Fool’s Gold), and it has a presence in ancient Sumerian texts, Greek philosophy, and medieval poetry, as a symbol for things overvalued, untrue or false.

Pyrite’s modern day metaphysical attributes all draw on these historical references. Pyrite is known to fuel motivation – igniting a fire to propel you forward.  Its reflective nature brings forth the element of protection (what bounces off me sticks to you). But, perhaps the most thought-provoking is the symbolism for deception and hypocrisy.  Draw your attention to that, see through it.

The HI-RES anthology’s curation is all about navigating and finding true authenticity.  In yourself, and in others, creating a life of clarity and perspective.
